MUGEN Motorsport Activities – 2019


M-TEC Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as MUGEN) has revealed an outline of motorsports and motorsports awareness activities to be engaged in 2019.

 

MUGEN, under the headings of “Faster”, “Stronger”, and “Smarter”, will engage in motorsports and motorsports awareness activities both in Japan and overseas, ranging from top category motorsports to non-professional races for all the Honda users.

In 2018 TEAM MUGEN, with MUGEN’s unique in-house project, which started in 2012, again took on the challenge of the Isle of Man TT races with a bespoke electric, zero-emission motorcycle, and at last accomplished the long-sought goal of breaking the 120 mph (193.12km) average lap speed; while at the same time achieving a 5th consecutive race victory.

In 2019 MUGEN will once again participate in the Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship series, the pinnacle of domestic formula racing, entering with two machines in a serious effort to win the series championship for the second year in a row.

MUGEN will continue to participate in SUPER GT with their own team, and TEAM MUGEN will be attempting to win the series championship.

In addition, under joint projects with Honda, MUGEN will supply the engines, and provide engine maintenance and engine circuit support services to race teams in various Honda groups.

 Japanese Championship SUPER FORMULA Series

 TEAM MUGEN will again participate in the Japanese Championship SUPER FORMULA Series.

Shinji Nakano who was the first Japanese racer to compete in the Triple Crown of Motorsport (the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans) is appointed as team director. Nakano along with a new driver line-up, Tomoki Nojiri, competing in the Japanese Championship SUPER FORMULA Series for his 5 consecutive season, but his debut for TEAM MUGEN, and the English driver, 2017 and 2018 Macau GP victor, Daniel Ticktum,  will be looking to win the series championship for the second year in a row for TEAM MUGEN.

 

MUGEN will also supply the 2.0L in-line four cylinder, direct injection, turbocharged engine ”HR-417E” for SUPER FORMULA, to 5 teams for a total of 9 race cars, and provide engine maintenance and circuit service.

GT500 class

 For 2019 TEAM MUGEN will continue to participate in SUPER GT 500 class with their own machine. Team Director, Shinji Nakano, and drivers, Hideki Mutoh / Daisuke Nakajima will again work together to try to win the series championship.

 

MUGEN also will supply the 2.0L in-line four cylinder, direct injection turbocharged engine “HR-417E” and provide engine circuit service with “NSX-GT” to 5 cars in 5 teams.

MUGEN will work as a distributor of “NSX GT3” and its service parts, and also provide their customers with technical support at circuit sites.

  • Honda Sports & Eco Program

The participatory motorsports “Honda Sports & Eco Program” operated by MUGEN together with Mobilityland Corporation stared from 2012 with a slogan “Enjoy Motorsports with eco.” This program aiming at combination of the environment and the sports driving, participants can rent a racing-specs vehicle and easily enjoy “driving, upskilling and, competing.” Four educational stages are prepared so that even beginners can improve their driving skills without stress, and four racing programs per year will again be prepared. Along with them participation fee is set up so reasonable that as many participants from the beginners to the pros as possible can enjoy this program.

  • N-ONE OWNER’S CUP

The participatory motorsports “N-ONE OWNER’S CUP” is the sprint race aiming at as many participants, including the beginners as possible, can enjoy with their own registered vehicles staring from 2014. The concept remains the same and again the events will be held in 8 (SUZUKA CIRCUIT, TWIN RING MOTEGI, OKAYAMA international circuit, FUJI SPEEDWAY, AUTO POLIS, Sportsland SUGO, TOKACHI SPEEDWAY, and TSUKUBA CIRCUIT) circuit sites. MUGEN will further improve the customer support for the beginners.

  • FIT 1.5 Challenge Cup

“FIT 1.5 Challenge Cup” operated by MUGEN with help of Mobilityland Corporation, OKAYAMA International Circuit, and SUGO Co., Ltd. will be held at SUZUKA CIRCUIT and OKAYAMA international circuit under the title of “Suzuka / Okayama touring car competition” and TWIN RING MOTEGI and Sportsland SUGO under the title of “Motegi / Sugo touring car competition.” is to be given the status of JAF Local championship race this year again.

MUGEN will continue to provide high-performance products including engine tuning for racing and technical services not only in Japan but world-widely.

 

MUGEN will implement the feedback of technique and know-how obtained through these motor sports activities to all MUGEN products, and in turn offers them to customers.
