Race Engine Builder / Work shop Supervisor- Motorsport

MUGEN EURO is looking to recruit an experienced Race Engine Builder / Work shop supervisor who will be involved in the TCR, WTCC and other exciting Race engine programmes. This is a unique opportunity to join an exciting company “MUGEN” who specialise in delivering Motor Sports / High performance engine programmes in major motorsport series for our Giant Automotive client. The successful candidate must:

  • Self-motivated person, able to work under pressure to tight deadlines and a team player with good communication skills in verbal and written formats.
  • Have experience of race engine build / performance development role
  • Build engines as required by the company schedule either from parts or from donor engines to blueprint specification.
  • Strip, inspect and measure customer engines and rebuild to Mugen standard.
  • Install engines on to dyno test bed.
  • Remove engines from test bed and carry out post-dyno examination
  • Pack and prepare engine for shipping to customer
  • Remove parts and carry out prototyping exercises of various aspects of both road and track cars as may be required.
  • Manufacture prototype parts using machine tools and fabrication equipment (where qualified to use)
  • Reporting to the General Manager in charge, your core responsibility will be to build engines to the tolerances and standards as required by Mugen.
  • Good liaison with suppliers and technical partners as well as customers will be essential.

Race Engine Development / Track Support Engineer

MUGEN EURO is looking to recruit an experienced Race Engine development / Track support engineer who will be involved in the WTCC and other exciting Race engine programmes. This position includes 95days world travel to event days and testing. This is a unique opportunity to join an exciting company “MUGEN” who specialise in delivering Motor Sports / High performance engine programmes in major motorsport series for our Giant Automotive client.

The successful candidate must: • Self motivated person, able to work under pressure to tight deadlines and team player with a good communication skill in verbal and written formats.

  • Have experience of engine test / ECU calibration in a performance development role on both engine Dyno and trackside capacity.
  • Be able to analyse data in order to ensure optimum In Car Engine performance and reliability.
  • Reporting to the track support manager the candidate will need to monitor engine running condition, manage on track engine programs and maximise / optimise the engine performance both on track and on Dyno.

Key responsibilities of this role include -Ensuring that the engines are delivered to the customer on time and to the correct specification. -Setting up the Engine management software with the latest calibrations -Checking that the Engine fitting has been completed to the required level of professionalism. -Monitoring the engine data during the track or dyno session. -Creating event reports notifying and notifying the Track Support manager of any potential problems -Providing track-side engine support in order to maximise performance and reliability of the race team -Ensuring that appropriate data logging is used and thoroughly analysed -Completing dyno performance test and reports on the findings in order to develop the engine. Personal Attributes -A degree in Mechanics/Electronics or Motorsport is essential. -A background in motorsport with trackside experience must be desirable -Problem solver with an analytical approach.

  • Degree Educated in a relevant discipline Essential. Further or vocational qualifications desirable. Experience of working in a similar role in several years

HEV / EV Engineer – Motorsport

 Applications are invited to join MUGEN, world renowned motorsports specialist, as we embark on an exciting new phase of development for the Company into a new era of vehicle propulsion technology.

Already a winner and current lap record holder at the Isle of Man TT races with our own EV motorbike “Shinden”, MUGEN are looking to capitalize on the experience gained and expand the in-house capabilities with this newly-created role.

Areas to be covered will include the ongoing development of electric motors, inverters, controller devices and energy storage systems, utilizing the very latest techniques and materials and early adoption of emerging technologies while competing in motorsport arenas around the world.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively on their own initiative and also to communicate and cooperate with other team members both in the UK and Japan in a highly pressurised and results-led environment, and be willing and able to undertake extensive travel, sometimes at short notice, to provide customer service and support.

Applicants will be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, with further vocational experience. Familiarity and competence in CAD software design is essential (preferably Catia v5) and you should have knowledge and experience in some or all of the following:

  • Electric motor design
  • Inverter and BMS systems
  • High frequency circuits.
  • Digital and analogue circuitry
  • Power semi-conductor switching circuit design (IGBT)
  • EMC measures design
  • Performance data evaluation
